Thanks to everyone for supporting last Friday's Gala. It was a successful event and we really appreciate all of the hard work that students, staff, family and sponsors put into it. We raised $13,000 on the night and will use the funds raised to help with playground improvements as well as donating $1000 to the Cyclone Gabriel appeal.

School interviews are taking place on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, an online booking invitation has been sent to you, the cutoff for booking appointments is 3pm, Sunday, if you can't make either day and would like to catch up with your child's teacher, please arrange a time with them.

There will be a Structured Literacy parent information evening on Wednesday 29th March. Please see the accompanying newsletter information and the booking form.

Our values focus for the next few weeks is Kindness.

Our school-wide values are explicitly taught in all our classrooms and across a variety of settings.

These value lessons are also supported by our school councillors sharing messages and role-playing at assemblies, as well as value reminders over the school intercom each morning during our daily notices.

This is how we display kindness in one of our school settings:

It is important to give compliments. Compliments are when we notice the good things about other people. Compliments make other people feel good. This in turn makes us feel good.

When we give compliments we use a friendly tone of voice. When giving compliments we look at the other person.

 

We are beginning to plan for winter soccer and netball teams.

SOCCER

NETBALL

INTRODUCTION TO NETBALL
The Otorohanga Netball Centre will be running an introduction to netball for year 5 students, or students year 5 and above who have never played full 7 a side netball and want to learn how the game works.

This will be on Wednesday 15th & 22nd March From 6pm - 6.30pm.

There will be a warm up and then go straight into a game, with stops and starts to help teach the girls and boys how to play the 7 aside game and some tips and tricks. 

UMPIRE COUCHING
Otorohanga Netball Centre

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in giving umpiring a go and a place for coaches and
managers to get clued up on rules. All ages are welcome. Angela Telfer will be running the day. She is a retired NZ Umpire, NZ Umpire Coach, Umpire Coach developer and Otorohanga’s Netball Centre's umpire coordinator.

Ikura|Manaakitia te whare tangata is an initiative set up by the Ministry of Education to provide free period products in all state schools across New Zealand.  The main aims of this scheme are to support whānau with the rising cost of living and to make a positive impact on student wellbeing. If you would like to opt into the scheme, please contact the school office. 

 

Many families now choose to spread the cost of the Technology fee as well as the Middle and Senior Syndicate Camps over many months by making small, regular payments to the school bank account via internet banking. These costs will be applied to your child's account early in the year and emailed to you so that you have all of the information on hand. The camp cost is not due until later in the year, but you are welcome to start making payments at any time. If you choose to take up this option, please use your child's name as a reference.
