Principal's Desk
Kia ora koutou.
Please feel free to pop along to Pen Assembly tomorrow morning which starts at 11:15. We will be celebrating our pen recipients as well as our Tier 3 KETE award students, plus our students will be saying farewell to our staff who are leaving us next week. Please note - our last day is next Friday the 15th. It is a 1/2 day finishing at 12:30. Buses will not be running for our school in the afternoon.
On Tuesday evening whanau of Rm 5 and our Kapa Haka group were treated to a play by Rm 5 students - tracing the historical journey and search around Aotearoa looking for the 1st Māori King and subsequent beginning of the Kingitanga. It was then followed up with a performance by our Kapa Haka group who performed waiata, waiata poi and a haka. Ngā mihi nui to all of the students and Whaea Danni for putting on a wonderful performance.
Last week we had Lucian Poaneki and Cruz Te Wao represent our school at the Waikato Full Primary Athletics competition. The boys participated extremely well and put in a lot of effort. Lucian had some outstanding results on the day - he was placed 1st in the 100m, 2nd in the 200m, 2nd in the long jump and was awarded the overall Yr 8 Boy's Champion - well done Lucian!
Thanks to everyone who came along and supported last week's Christmas Float Parade. We were awarded 1st place. A lot of hard work went into the designing phase - thanks to all of our staff and students for what they contributed and thanks to Daniel Mateni for the use of your truck and David Wild for the signage!
Next Tuesday is our Junior and Senior Prizegiving. Please come along and take part in the celebrations. Both events are very popular. The Junior Prizegiving starts at 11:15am and will take just under an hour. The Senior Prizegiving starts at 7pm. A light supper is provided at the end of the senior evening for the year 8 leavers and their families.
Please have a look at the lost property boxes before the end of next week. We don't hold onto it over summer. Any items not claimed get washed and donated.
Thanks to the families who have filled in the pre-school enrolment survey for 2024 and beyond. The survey can be found here if you are yet to fill it in. It really helps us out with future planning.
