Kia ora koutou.

We are at the end of another term already! Tomorrow we have our Pen Assembly at 11:15 in the school hall. Please feel free to come along and share in the celebrations with us. School finishes at 2:55pm as usual. We will be farewelling Mrs Mahutonga at our assembly as she begins maternity leave from the start of Term 4. She will be missed next year and we wish her and her family all the best.

The Middle Syndicate camp was hugely successful - even with an early wake up call in the middle of the night due to a false fire alarm. The students had a great time completing the camp based activities. Thanks to all of the parents who went along and made camp possible!

We finished the term off with further success in inter-school events. Our technology challenge team did really well in Te Kuiti coming 2nd overall, Lauren Reeve came 3rd in the Waikato Full Primary speech finals and our Yr 5/6 Kings Rippa Rugby team came 2nd in the King Country tournament. Well done to everybody.

Term 4 will be as busy as usual, we have lots of in-school activities on for you to be a part of. Keep an eye on our school calendar for dates and times.

Technology Challenge

Last week's Pukenui School technology challenge saw students solving problems and scenarios using maths, science and a lot of teamwork, creativity and newspaper.
Here's what they constructed:
- A pikau (backpack)' out of newspaper and tape, among other specifications it had to be able to close and to hold items. Their awesome backpack got 2nd place.

- A plane out of paper, straws, blue tack and tape. The plane that could fly the longest distance was the winner. Their plane flew well and got 3rd place.

- A rescue net out of string and paper. The rescue net had to be strong enough to 'catch a baby', so a 2.5kg bag of dog food was dropped onto each one to test its strength, they also placed the lightest member of their team in to see if it could hold them! Their amazing strong rescue net got 2nd place!

- And lastly they made a 'Leaning Tower of Pasta' out of spaghetti pasta and marshmallows. Tallest tower to win!

** Their efforts gained them a placing of 2nd overall! **

The kids were all very well behaved, all engaged in the activities and all put in a lot of effort.

The season is here, and so is the school holidays!

Tangler® is hosting a fun fishing tournament for the kids across the country, and it's completely free!

This is a measure-only tournament, targeting Kahawai and Snapper, and we have 6 Shimano fishing rod and reel combos as major prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

Tangler® support sustainable fishing and this tournament is listed as Catch and Release. However, this is not a firm rule. Please do your part and release fish when possible.

MUST READ!

You MUST take a glory photo with both the child and adult in the picture or your fish will not be verified.
Length must be measured using a measuring device (brag mat or tape measure) and be clearly visible in Brag mat upload.
Brag mat photo must also include the words " #TrueTangler " in the photo, this can be on a piece of paper, a card or anything.
